Writing Home is a “tool” not a school. We are dedicated to encouraging home educators in and around the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington State. Our courses include English composition and literature, science, and algebra for students in 2nd grade through high school. Parents remain responsible for their child’s education (according to the Bible and Washington State’s Home Based Instruction Laws). We provide lessons, homework assignments, tests and grade reports.
Writing Home Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation registered in Washington State.
We are Jim and Kim Baumgaertel, known to our students as “Mr. B” and “Mrs. B”. Since 1987, Mrs. B has taught an average of one hundred home educated students each year. Mrs. B’s background is in English education, having taught at a Christian school before meeting Mr. B, who is a retired PSNS engineer. He has been the physics and algebra teacher at Writing Home since 2012.
Writing Home Foundation’s not-for-profit corporation board members are Tim Nanfito, Dave Mealey, and Jim Baumgaertel.

Foremost, we are followers of Jesus and will teach every class from a Biblical viewpoint: science, math, history, English composition and literature. Our Biblical View of Education statement can be found here.

Nothing is more important than who Jesus is and what is the Gospel that saves. Salvation is by grace through faith alone in Christ alone.
