Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I heard you offer correspondence classes.
Is this true?
A: Yes. Correspondence classes are available. Click the link

a description of how to register!
Q: I have the Solutions and Tests Manual for the Apologia science courses that you teach. Is it okay for me to use it to help my child study for the tests?
A: No. Please do not look at the test answers OR the test questions in the manual. You would be giving your student an unfair advantage by prepping him for the tests. You may certainly use the manual to check his answers to the study guide questions at the end of each module, but to show him the test questions (or even look at them yourself) would be cheating.
Q: How do you want lab reports written?
A: See the science class page for a link to writing lab reports.
Q: My kids come home from science class each week and claim they have no homework. Why not?
A: Your children are mistaken. They will ALWAYS have homework in science class. Check the link to your child's science course and you will see the homework assignment.
Q: You have said that my student should work for about an hour a day on science on the days he is not in class with you. On Monday I have him read the assigned text, and he finishes quickly. What should he do for the rest of the week?
A: Excellent question! Students think that once they've read the selection, they're done. This is shallow thinking! Simply reading through the text is hardly preparation for an exam, let alone for understanding of the material. Your student should ask himself the "On Your Own" questions, work any problems given in the "Examples" sections, make out "vocabulary cards" for study (and then study them!), finish his lab report, and even re-read the selection for a good grasp of those science concepts!
Q: What's a "Writer's Block"?
A: Writer's Block is my new name for the spiral notebook we called "Writer's Journal" last year. I use it for in-class, writing warm-up assignments. This year instead of sending the notebook home each week, I will keep them here and pass them out during class time. This way, I hope to eliminate the "I forgot mine at home!" excuse!
