About
My name is Kim Baumgaertel. I am a follower of Jesus, a wife to Jim, a
mommy-teacher to Jessica, David, Amy, and Jennifer, and the author of
A Composition Cache. I have a B.A in English Education, and was
a junior high English teacher in a Christian school before Jim and I
started our family. I had assumed that after our family was complete I
would go back to teaching at the Christian school and our children would
join me there; however, the Lord had other plans! We have been home
educators since 1989.
For the past 17 years I have taught workshops in English composition and
science for the children of fellow home educators in my home town.
You can find the current list of courses on the home page, and by
clicking on each one, a description of the class and homework required
for the week.
I wrote A Composition Cache as my course textbook. It is a
complete collection of writing assignments for home-educated students,
from early elementary grades through high school. A Composition
Cache will be ready for sale to non-class members by Spring, 2007,
Lord willing.
Jim and I have always maintained that the most important aspect of our
children's education is that they know Jesus Christ as their savior. We
would rather they were illiterate knowing Jesus, than be
academically successful without Him. Praise God, they are not
illiterate, and we pray constantly for their continued spiritual growth
and desire to serve Him. See “The
Biblical View of Education” for a more detailed analysis of our
convictions regarding home schooling.
Thank you for visiting this site. If you are a current student, or the
parent of a current student, thank you for sharing in this home
education adventure with me! Be sure and check back often for class
news…and maybe even a few surprises.
